How to keep your device updated with the Visible Network

In order for certain processes to go smoothly, you should keep your device up to date! It’s nothing super complicated, but it can be tricky to locate where certain information or updates take place.

Learn how and why you need to:

Update your software based on your device type

Before any major changes happen on your device, or if you’re having issues using your device, best practice is to see if any software updates need to take place. If you aren’t using the latest version of software you could experience performance issues while using it or trying to perform a process on your device.

Some examples of when you need to check and perform an update on your device are:

Turn on and check automatic application updates for your device

Most devices will either notify you when an update needs to be made, or automatically update your software. Google devices will automatically install updates.

Here’s how you can turn automatic updates on and off for iOS and Samsung devices:
iPhone 1. Open the Settings app, and navigate to General.

2. Tap Software Update and then tap Automatic Updates.

3. Toggle Download iOS Updates on or off.
1. Green means your software updates will automatically be downloaded.
4. Toggle Install iOS Updates on or off.
1. Green means your iPhone software updates automatically.
Apple Watch 1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.

2. In the My Watch section, navigate to General.

3. Toggle Automatic App install on or off.
1. Green means your Apple Watch software updates automatically.
Samsung device 1. Open the Settings app and navigate to Software update.

2. Toggle Automatic update on or off
1. Blue means your phone software updates automatically.
Galaxy Watch System updates download and install automatically as long as the watch is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi.
Follow these steps if a system update doesn’t install automatically:
1. Press the Power button to open the list of available apps.
2. Navigate to Settings > System
3. Select About
4. Scroll down and select System updates
1. This action downloads and installs any available system update.
2. This section is empty when no system updates are available

Google Pixel Watch System updates download and install automatically as long as the watch is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi.

Update the Visible app

Updates to the Visible application occur on a regular basis. It’s important to have the most current version on your device. This ensures you have access to all of the great things Visible has to offer!

Follow these steps to update the Visible app on your device:
iOS device 1. Open the App Store app.

2. Tap your profile icon in the top right corner of the screen.

3. Scroll to see if there are any pending updates.

4. Tap Update next to the Visible app.
Android device You’ll get a pop up message on your screen when you open the Visible app that says:
A newer version of the app is available in the Play Store. Please update the app to proceed.
1. Open the Google Play Store app

2. Tap your Profile icon in the top right.

3. Tap Manage apps & device.

4. If the Visible app needs to be updated, it will be labeled with Update available.

5. Tap Update to initiate the update on the Visible app.

Update your emergency address

This address is used in the event an emergency call is made. The reason you need to update this address while using WiFi Calling is because this info gets transmitted to an emergency dispatcher for all 911 calls made over a Wi-Fi network. If address validation fails you are prompted to enter a new address until a valid address is entered.

Follow these steps to update your emergency address on your device:
iOS device 1. Open the Settings app.

2. Navigate to the application list, and tap the Phone app.

3. Tap Wi-Fi Calling, and then tap Update Emergency Address.

4. Make the necessary updates, agree to the terms and conditions, and tap Continue.
Android device 1. Navigate to the Apps icon and then tap Settings.

2. Tap More and then tap Advanced Calling.

3. Tap Wi-Fi Calling and then tap Update Current Emergency Address.

4. Make the necessary updates, and tap SAVE.
